Horsewise Horses – our equine partners & friends

Our competition horses provide an example of what our training techniques and philosophy can achieve. These horses have all been trained using the same approach we utilise with our students and classes.

The grand old man of the farm.

I bought Deek as an unbroken 3 year old back in 1987. In his time he placed at most One Day Events in NSW including at State Level. He has also taken many a Level 1 candidate through their exams, and is probably one of the most qualified instructors in the Hawkesbury area! I rode him for my Level 1 AND Level 2 exam. Of uncertain parentage, his dam was thought to be a Clydie X and his father was ex racehorse “The Magician”. Deek is now 25 years old and is enjoying a well earned retirement although he is still busy keeping the youngsters in line!

Probably one of the bravest and most generous horses I have ever had the joy of training.

Our school master and trainer of young riders!

We bred Poldark to be an eventer. He is by Mosel Klute (WB stallion ridden at 3* by Heath Ryan) and from TB mare Javelot, a descendant of the great Brigadier Gerard. Poldark, however, had other ideas! Having had a short career as a jumper and eventer it became more apparent that dressage was his forte. He has competed at State Level and was my Level 2 ‘dressage exam’ horse. He is now employed as resident schoolmaster and has been successful in teaching many young riders the finer points of dressage.

Harvest Aragorn

On the road to FEI

Bred by Sydney University at Orange, “Harvey” has been with me since he was 2 years old. Some of his wins to date have been:

1st Young Performance Horse & Reserve Ch Hack of the Year AWHA,

Twice Champion Arabian Warmblood- Hawkesbury Show

2009 Champion Warmblood – Hawkesbury Show

2008 Elementary Horse of the Year- Hawkesbury Dressage

Plus many other wins and placing in show classes and dressage competitions. “Harvey” has just graduated to Medium level dressage. He is showing a lot of talent and potential for a future at FEI level as well as having an incredibly friendly and charming nature.

Young Talent time!

The baby of the family, Romanza was bred by Melody O’Toole and Jeff Sharpe of F1 Performance Horses and is by Heath Ryan’s World Ranked Dressage stallion, Regardez Moi. His dam is a half sister to Harvest Aragorn. “Reg” had a slow start in life due to the 2007 EI epidemic and is yet to be shown. He is proving to be a talented and charismatic individual and we have great hopes for his future.
