Resident Coach & Trainer

Sally-Ann Barbera EA/NCAS L2 CE & Assessor (EA & AHRC)

Originally from the UK, Sally started riding at the age of 3, where she trained and later worked in the British Horse Society riding school system. As a teenager Sally became involved in Show jumping, and competed successfully for many years.

In 1986 Sally arrived in Australia and became the Manager and Chief Instructor at Kia Ora Stables, Randwick in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Two years later she and her husband, David, moved out of the city and onto acreage, thus establishing Maybelle Farm Equestrian Centre.

With her horse Deek (a Clydie/TB cross) Sally took up the sport of Eventing, where she competed up to Pre–Novice, placed at NSW State Championships, and was in preparation for 2* when a paddock injury cut short Deek’s eventing career.

Sally then turned to dressage in which she has competed almost exclusively for the last 12 years, up to FEI level.

Currently Sally has three competition horses in training. She and David continue to reside on Maybelle Farm with their 2 sons, Damien & Chris.

Sally holds the following coaching accreditation:

  • EA/NCAS Level 2 General (qualified to teach dressage, show-jumping and cross-country)
  • Coach Educator and National Assessor for Equestrian Australia (EA) Australian Horse Riding Centers (AHRC) and
  • Cert IV Workplace Assessor
